Songkarn_CNX

Songkran is a Thai traditional New Year which starts on April 13 every year and lasts for 3 days. Songkranis a Thai word which means “move” or “change place” as it is the day when the sun changes its position in the zodiac.

It is also known as the “Water Festival” as people believe that water will wash away bad luck. The most-talkedabout celebration takes place in the northern province of Chiang Mai. During this period, people from all parts of the country flock there to enjoy the water festival, to watch the Miss Songkran Contest and the beautiful parades.

Most of this pictures is taken with the camera in a plastic bag. It’s necessary because you will get wet. It is water everywhere.

Airport rail link 40

After Don Muang Airport has been flooded. Unavoidably, I have to use the service of Suvarnabhumi International Airport. I, usually, take a cab from Suvarnabhumi to my house which costs me ~500 THB one way! (airport fee, express way fees inclusive) quite huge amount isn’t it?. Therefore, I wanted to experience a new mass transportation of BKK Airport Rail Link. When I arrived Suvarnabhumi, then I went down stair at the 1st level to buy  Airport Rail Link ticket. There are two types of service as follow:

Airport rail Link- Schedule

The Express Service is a 15-minute non-stop journey between the City Terminal and the airport with a fare at Bt150 per trip.

City Line commuter trips, with set fares at Bt15-Bt45, take 30 minutes to reach the airport, departing from Phaya Thai, Ratchaprarop, Makkasan, Asoke, Ramkhamhaeng, Hua Mak, Ban Thap Chang, and Lat Krabang stations, and will end at the last stop of Suvarnabhumi.

Airport rail link 41

City Line was chosen to dropped me off at Phaya Thai station because  I was not in a hurry and the ticket was cheap 45 THB. After a few moment not more than 15 minutes.  It departed for Lat Krabang station and others stations en route.

The last stop was Phaya Thai station. I looked at my watch it took around 30 minutes that’s not bad at all. Then, I caught the cab to my home for another 60 THB. It may be seen that the dif between a taxi and Airport Rail Link ~ 500 – 105 = 395 THB if return trip 295 THB X 2  590 THB Wow! it is obviously different, isn’t it?.

My return trip, I hopped in BTS at Nana station destination was Phaya Thai station ticket 25 THB. It took me 30 minutes. At Phaya Thai station interchanged  to Airport Rail Link City Line ticket 45 THB another 30 minutes to Suvarnabhumi. Believe it or not? it cost me 70 THB from Sukhumvit to Suvarnabhumi and took only an hour this was amazing! right?.

Airport rail link 42

Bottom line if you are not in a hurry, carrying few handy luggages and you don’t mind waiting for a few moment.  Airport Rail Link is another wise alternative to save our time, our money and save environment na krub :)
